Hello and Welcome to Her Musings!

Why I Became a Life Coach: My Journey from Uncertainty to Purpose

By Leanne – She Coaches Collective

About eight years ago, I found myself sitting across from a life coach at a local restaurant, not entirely sure what I was getting into. I had just started a new role at a new organization, and while I was open to support, I was also skeptical. I wasn’t convinced that coaching would make much of a difference.

But within that single hour, everything shifted.

In that very first session, I uncovered something that had been weighing on me for years—my biggest regret: not finishing my degree. It had quietly shaped how I saw myself. I felt unaccomplished, in over my head, and battled a deep sense of imposter syndrome. That conversation cracked something open in me. By the end of the session, I didn’t just have clarity—I had a couple of concrete steps to start making a change.

That same night, I began researching degree programs that would allow me to study while working full time and raising my kids. I still wasn’t entirely convinced I could do it—but I decided to try.

Over the next three and a half years, I worked closely with that coach. Her guidance helped me clarify my purpose, uncover what truly drives me, and set goals that aligned with the life I wanted to create. With her support, I completed my undergraduate degree, moved forward in my career, and began to see myself through a new, more empowered lens.

Fast forward to today: I’ve completed two coaching certifications, am working toward my master’s degree, and have launched She Coaches Collective to help other women discover what I did—that coaching isn’t just helpful, it’s transformative.

I became a life coach because I believe in this work. I’ve lived the change it can create. I know that within each of us is untapped potential—and when we connect with our core values, understand our motivations, and define our purpose, we become unstoppable.

If you're curious, unsure, or feeling stuck—just like I was—I invite you to take that first step. You never know what one powerful conversation can unlock.
